Trekking from Roshka to Juta via the Chauki Pass is a must-visit route for all nature lovers. In two days, we will see three colorful lakes, cross the pass, see the Chauki massif from three sides, and as a bonus, cross the border between two Georgian regions: Khevsureti and Kazbegi. But that’s not all.
We will spend the night in tents under the stars right by Blue Lake. Its color in the sun is the bluest in the world. In addition, we will see Green Lake and the highest lake, White Lake, which is located at an altitude of 2,900 meters.

Throughout the hike, we will be accompanied by the Chaukhi massif — seven sharp peaks. It looks like a huge and impregnable fortress. It is often compared to the Dolomites, although in fact it is unlike anything else.
At the pass, we will see a panorama of Khevsureti and Kazbegi, climb to an altitude of 3,338 meters. Along the way, there will be not only lakes, but also rivers, waterfalls, snowfields, steep ascents and descents, and the scorching sun. This is a real category route that you can take with us.

This is an autonomous trek, we carry everything with us. We will eat full hot meals and drink fresh tea and coffee. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, there is a separate menu for you, not just meat-free options.
  • 22 km, ↑↓1500 m
On the first day, we walk 7 kilometers with an elevation gain of 700 meters, and on the second day, we walk 15 kilometers with an elevation gain of 950 meters and a descent of 1,500 meters.
  • Intermediate
The hike is not easy, but it is feasible for most people. If you have already been on one-day hikes or multi-day trips, with our help you will be able to do it.
  • Night in a Tent
Near Blue Lake at an altitude of 2,600 meters at the foot of Chaukhi Nassif and under the stars
Our plan
saturday
Tbilisi — Blue Lake
7 km, ↑600 + 3 km radial hike to the White Lake
We leave Tbilisi in the morning. A picturesque road through the Zhinvali Reservoir to the village of Roshka (2000 m), lost in the mountains, awaits us.

Upon arrival, we leave civilization behind and begin our ascent along a trail lined with giant boulders left behind by an ancient glacier. By early evening, we will reach the Abudelauri Lakes. We will pass by the Green Lake and set up camp at the Blue Lake. Its color in the rays of the setting sun seems unreal.

Here we set up our tents. Groups with one guide go on a radial trip to the White Lake — it is located higher than the others, directly under the glacier, and has a characteristic milky hue. At this time, the second guide is busy preparing dinner. After that, we will spend the night at an altitude of 2,600 meters under a dome of stars.
sunday
Blue Lake — Juta — Tbilisi
15 km, ↑900m ↓1500m
Today is the culmination of our trip. We get up early and set off on the route.

We climb the Chaukhi Pass (3,338 m). It will take some effort, but the view from the saddle of the rock towers and the Juta Valley is worth every step.

Then begins a long but pleasant descent towards the Kazbegi region. The landscape will change from rugged rocks to gentle alpine meadows. We will rest by a small glacial lake on the other side of the rock, visit a waterfall, and then relax on the terrace of the Fifth Season café, celebrating our successful crossing with a view of the mountains.

A transfer will be waiting for us in Juta to take us back to Tbilisi.
